Frequently Asked Questions
How do the cores work?
MSU requires that anyone working in a labratory (core/facility/center) have specific safety and awareness training. Those trainings can be found through the EHS link on the Forms & Quick Links page. After you have your training, request a tour of the cores (rupph@msu.edu) and once you are given access to the cores, you can immediately begin working.
Equipment is booked with an online platform, iLabs (links also found on Forms & Quick Links page) , and trainings are available for many instruments. Billing is a monthly charge, unlimited use per month!
Many pieces of our equipment have “How To” videos on YouTube. Be sure to look for tutorial link under the equipment picture.
Simply reach out to Heather deFeijter-Rupp at rupph@msu.edu to begin!
Can I use the cores if I am not part of the MSU Community?
Yes, there are a few additional steps, so please feel free to reach out (rupph@msu.edu) to discuss further.
Can I store supplies for experiments on-site?
Yes. All of the cores provide temporary space if you use the cores. You can also have temperature sensitive supplies shipped to us directly and stored.
